"Aubrey Maseko, a young scientist, works obsessively in a makeshift lab to complete a cell regeneration project under pressure from a pharmaceutical company. His research aims to stabilize cell decay, a breakthrough that could change lives and secure his future. As deadlines close in, Aubrey begins to experience auditory hallucinations, whispers that grow more aggressive and controlling. At home, his relationship with his fiancée Unathi begins to fracture. She struggles with her own health issues and emotional needs, but Aubrey remains consumed by his work. He ignores her attempts to reconnect, convinced that his success will fix everything. Their communication breaks down as his detachment grows. Back in the lab, the hallucinations intensify, pushing Aubrey to act faster and take risks. He modifies his experiment with a chemical stimulant, leading to a sudden breakthrough. In his excitement, he reaches out to Unathi, only to realize he has lost track of time and missed her completely. As his experiment destabilizes, the voices manipulate his urgency, convincing him there is no time left. At the same time, Unathi, feeling abandoned, leaves him, ending their relationship through a final voicemail. Alone in the lab, Aubrey witnesses the result of his work. The experiment manifests as a distorted version of himself, a physical embodiment of his obsession and guilt. The “monster” confirms his success but also reflects the cost of it. In the aftermath, Aubrey returns home to an empty space, confronted with the consequences of his choices. He achieved his goal but lost everything that mattered."
