The film NanDi , follows a talented but insecure young fashion designer who works as a waitress named Nandi. Due to her self-doubt she hides her vibrant, African-inspired designs while her online alter ego, Didi, her glamorous subconscious persona- showcases a different side of her, gaining attention and admiration through curated posts offering her the validation she craves. When a prestigious fashion brand, Mzansi Couture, hosts open call interviews, Nandi hesitates but is pushed by Didi to apply. In the interview she is told she must conform her bold, authentic style to the brand’s commercial aesthetic. The line between her reality and Didi’s influence blurs once she designs the dress, with Didi increasingly gaining dominance over her life- posting, reshaping her work, and ultimately manifesting as a physical entity that challenges Nandi’s sense of self. Faced with the choice to reclaim her true identity or surrender to Didi’s perfection, Nandi’s insecurities surface, leading to a tense confrontation. In the end, Didi takes control completely, securing her spot at Mzansi Couture and embodying society’s obsession with superficial validation.
