Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl is a contemporary reimagining of the classical Greek myth of Eurydice and Orpheus, told from Eurydice’s perspective. On her wedding day, the free-spirited Eurydice is lured away by a mysterious stranger and falls to her death, descending into the Underworld. A strange, shadowy, and unsettling place where memory and language are erased-where rain falls indoors and The Three Stones are the rule-keepers and guardians of the dead. Here, in the Underworld, Eurydice is reunited with her mother, who helps her rediscover memories, her childhood, and language. Orpheus, driven by grief and in defiance of the laws of death; journeys to the Underworld in search of his bride. Eurydice faces a choice. To return to the living with Orpheus or to remain for eternity in the Underworld with her beloved mother.   How far will you go for love?
