“We’ve come to share our worlds with you” for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow Is enuf is a choreo-poem written by Ntozake Shange in 1975. Originally created in the United States, our Graduation production reimagines her work through the lens of South Africa in 2025. The text uses poetic monologues, dance, song and music to explore the lives of 6 Black women navigating love, friendship, trauma, heartbreak, and oppression; while also celebrating healing, joy, belonging, community and the reclaiming of personal and collective power. Each story, told with vibrant, poetic physicality by the cast of dynamic and talented actresses, illustrates the enduring relevance of Shange’s text.
