A private detective from a film noir is hired by a princess to investigate the aftermath of a theatrical tragedy, which left her father dead. They travel to a bar, in the videogame world, to find a knight who is believed to be the last person to see the king alive. After returning with the knight to the scene of the crime, the knight fatally wounds the P.I. and reveals that he is a character from a video game, and that he can respawn after being killed. The princess finds a video game console and pulls out the plug, permanently killing the knight.
