Bohlale Marang is a young woman sentenced to 12 years in prison. During her sentence, her main goal is to gain reading material and to educate her fellow inmates, however, that is made difficult when head wardress Delena Strydom not only denies her reading material but does everything in her power to make Marang’s life difficult with the help of her white prison guard. When a protest ensues inside the prison during labour hour, Strydom ensures the prisoners are punished, leading to Marang’s untimely death.
