Robert has a BA Degree in Drama and English, a BA Honours Degree in Theatre Studies with focus in Directing, Choreography, Physical Theatre and Writing and a MA Degree in Contemporary Directing (All degrees attained at NMU).

For his MA thesis he focussed on the following: Refusal and Rupture as a Postdramatic Revolt: An analysis of selected South African Contemporary Devised Performances with particular focus on works by First Physical Theatre Company and The Rhodes University Drama Department.

Robert is currently the Head of the Live Performance Department at AFDA Port Elizabeth were he also lectures in Screen Acting and incorporated voice and movement classes.

Prior to starting at AFDA PE, Robert has worked, performed for and directed a number of productions for the National Arts Festival in Makhanda. NAF productions include dancing in Alan Parker's Attic Stories (2006) for the First Physical Student Company, the musical direction for Janet Bucland's (Ubom! Eastern Cape Theatre Company) revival of Triplets of Tanyi (2007). Wesley's Dietjie's Hamlet Machine (2008), and Madele Vermaak's Tender (2012).

From 2014 to 2015, Robert performed in the Artscape produced by Chomi, written by Pfarelo Nemakonde and directed by Motlatji Ditodi.

Robert is also the founder and Artistic Director of the Runaway Bunni Collective that boast an array of critically acclaimed directorial and design features. In 2012 Robert directed Genna Gardini's Wintersweet which won the Collective their first Standard Bank Encore Ovation Award.

Robert is always dedicated to dispersing and encouraging the widespread growth of performance skills and knowledge, and does not believe we ever truly graduate from learning. Robert's choice to be at AFDA Port Elizabeth is simple - he wants to encourage more opportunity and built new horizons in his home province, the Eastern Cape.
