AFDA alumnus Kuthula Magubane, also known as Ngola was born in Umlazi, Durban South Africa in 1990 7th of June. He is the CEO and co-founder of a multi-medium creative label called LOFW which is an acronym for Leaders of the Future World.
Ngola is first and foremost a musician, who initially got signed by Rude World Records (Cpt) in 2015 after completing his Live Performance BA degree majoring in Theatre Acting and Music Business from AFDA Cape Town. After only a few months signed he bought himself out of his contract, started his own business (LOFW) and then relocated to Johannesburg. He was then able to release his debut EP titled “RocketPowerLove” in November 2017 which is more than the story of the Hip-Hop artist on the journey to becoming an all-round musician.
“It is the story of an entrepreneur, university graduate, professional model, actor, idea generator and overall leader shooting for their dreams.” – Ngola, “RPL” had singles such as “Mansa Moosa” and BornInThe90z launched on the Hip-Hop Floor (Yfm).
His milestones include opening for international act Casey Veggies (Los Angeles) alongside Youngsta in 2015, a collaboration with Nipho Mkhize & Sophia Town (2018) to create a song titled “One Night” which was #1 on Kings of Spin Top 30 DJ Chart run by BBC Radio 1.
Locally, Ngola has opened for household names in South African music such as Crazy White Boy, ZakiIbrahim, Euphonik, Stogie T and Black Coffee.
In 2018 Ngola headlined the W.O.K.E Arts Music Festival (Jhb), We Are One Music Festival (Jhb) and in collaboration with Neo-Elektronica artist Last, for a Durban music festival called “Future Africa” at the Werehouse alongside Aewon Wolf and Nasty C.
He is currently in production, creating a short music film for his debut ep “RocketPowerLove”, whilst simultaneously recording his next solo (double) EP titled 7/Energies. Amongst his solo projects he is also in collaboration with some artists between Durban, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Miami in order to create the LOFW brand and global network.
As an actor, Kuthula has already made major appearances in local television, currently as “Malibongwe” in the popular drama series IsthunziI and II on Mzansi Magic, “Sphe” in the series “Sober Companions” on SABC3, “Duna” in the popular comedy series “Single GalzII” and as the lead (Nathi) in a South African short film directed by Cannes award winning writer and director Zamo Mkhwanazi.
Ngola is a member of the J&B Hive creative incubation in Braamfontein, where his company in collaboration with the J&B Hive is creating platforms such as 2SIXteenZ & The Hip Hop Market for African creatives and young people to showcase and experience alternative spaces in South African popular culture.
